Sober New Year’s Eve Fun

New Year’s Eve is a time of celebration. A time to prepare for a fresh start and ring in new beginnings! However, it can also be a time of temptation for those who choose to abstain from alcohol and drugs. As you consider your New Year’s Eve plans, it’s important to remember that there are many wonderful and memorable activities you can enjoy that do not involve alcohol or drugs. Start a New Tradition Plan to start a new tradition with loved ones as you ring in 2011. Surrounding yourself with supportive family and friends is a great strategy to stay sober this New Year’s Eve.

  • Host a dinner party and surprise your guests with a tasty treat to enjoy at the stroke of 12.
  •  Follow the Spanish tradition and eat 12 grapes at midnight to secure 12 months of happiness in the coming year.
  • Bake a traditional Greek Vasilopita, or St. Basil’s cake, with a gold or silver coin inside. According to tradition, whoever finds the coin in their piece of cake will be especially lucky during the coming year.

Hit The Town Many communities host a range of family-friendly, alcohol-free New Year’s Eve festivities. If you’re a movie buff, head to a midnight showing of a new release or catch a classic at a local theater. If dancing gets your toes tapping, check out special New Year’s Eve events hosted by dance groups in your area. Be sure to call ahead to confirm the policy on alcohol if you have any questions or doubts. Enjoy celebrating your sobriety with supportive family and friends and always be confident in your decision to abstain from alcohol and drugs. The entire The Ranch PA Rehab Center team wishes you and your loved ones a safe and happy holiday season.
